The Estevan Bruins have added a 19-year-old forward with size and skill to the roster ahead of the 2021-22 SJHL season.

The Bruins acquired Ben Diamond (’02) from the St. Thomas Stars (GOJHL, Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League) in exchange for a Player Development Fee (PDF).

Diamond (Strathroy, ON) last played during the 2019/20 season, as there was no junior hockey played in Ontario during the 20/21 season due to COVID-19 restrictions. In his last full season as a 17-year-old, Diamond finished with 29 PTS (12G, 17A) and 14 PIM in 41GP split between the Strathroy Rockets and St. Thomas Stars. After a mid-season trade, Diamond (6’1, 185lbs) was a point-per-game player with the Stars (18PTS in 18GP).

“We are excited to add Ben to our line-up for next season. Ben has a good skill set and is big body. We believe he will add some offense to our line-up and be a solid two-way player for us.”Jason Tatarnic, Head Coach/GM of the Estevan Bruins.

“I’m excited to be joining the Estevan Bruins and the Estevan community. The Bruins have a long history of success and I am honoured to be a part of the team. I can’t wait to get started!”Ben Diamond

The start dates and schedule for the 2021-22 SJHL season has yet to be finalized, but is anticipated to start in September-October. The Estevan Bruins are the host team for the 2022 Centennial Cup, as the national championship will be played in Estevan from May 20th-29th, 2022.
