On the eve of the 2023 SJHL Draft, the Estevan Bruins have swung a trade to bring in a veteran blueliner for the 2023/24 season.
The Estevan Bruins have acquired defenceman Liam Bell (‘03) from the Kindersley Klippers in exchange for the 20th overall pick (2nd round) in this year’s SJHL Draft. The pick was previously acquired by the Bruins from the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Bell (6’1, 200 lbs) joins the Bruins ahead of his 20-year-old season after spending the last two seasons with the Nipawin Hawks and most recently in Kindersley. The gritty defender from Saskatoon, SK provides toughness on the blueline, tallying 24 PTS (5G/19A) and 132 PIM in 91 GP in the SJHL since 2020/21.
“Bell defends well, he is very steady in the defensive zone and his mobility allows him to join the rush. We are very excited to have Liam joining us this season,” commented Head Coach & General Manager Jason Tatarnic.
