A former MJHL scoring champion is on his way to The Energy City for the 2021-22 Centennial Cup season.

The Estevan Bruins have acquired forward Mikol Sartor (6’1, 160lbs) from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines (MJHL) in exchange for Future Considerations. Sartor last played in the MJHL during the 2019-20 season where he led the league in scoring with 93 PTS (35G, 58A) as an 18-year-old for the Winnipeg Blues.

“I’m very thankful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Estevan Bruins organization. I’m looking forward to getting down there and meeting all the other players, and getting the 2021-22 SJHL season started!” – Mikol Sartor

Sartor played two full seasons with the Blues before spending last year (2020-21) in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) splitting time with the Johnstown Tomahawks and the Minnesota Wilderness. Sartor tallied 26 PTS (12G, 14A) in 51GP and added 3 PTS (2G, 1A) in 3 playoff games. Sartor’s Junior A rights had previously been acquired by Waywayseecappo from Winnipeg, and that’s when Estevan Bruins’ Head Coach/GM Jason Tatarnic inquired about Sartor’s availability.

“We’ve been working on this transaction for a while now and we’re happy to get it done. Mikol has proven he can put up points and be an offensive threat. We have been watching quite a bit of video on Mikol, we like his game and he’s a centerman that’s very strong on faceoffs. We are really excited to add Sartor to our roster as we build for the Centennial Cup this upcoming season.” – Jason Tatarnic, Head Coach/GM

Sartor (2001) joins the Bruins along with the offseason acquisitions of forwards Eric Houk (’01), Joey Moffatt (’01), Ben Diamond (’02) and Carter Massier (’01, list rights acquired), and the offseason signings of Zach Burfoot (’03)Zachary Smith (’02), and Brenden Holba (’03).

The Estevan Bruins and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) are slated to begin the 2021-22 regular season on September 24th, 2021. The Bruins will be the host team for the 2022 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Horton’s, taking place in Estevan from May 20th – 29th, 2022.
