The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins announced Thursday, the team has acquired 2004-born forward, Jacob Hufty from the La Ronge Ice Wolves in exchange for a Player Development Fee.
A soon-to-be 20-year-old from Kamloops, BC., Hufty brings size (6’2, 185lbs), added tenacity and versatility to the Bruins’ forward group, having played a good mix of center and wing over his first three seasons of junior hockey.
Bruins’ Head Coach and GM, Jason Tatarnic said he’s looking forward to seeing Hufty make his Estevan debut as early as next week, calling him a “solid two-way player who will have an opportunity to be in some offensive situations” with the team.
In 50 games with the Ice Wolves dating back to last season, Hufty registered 10 goals and 22 points.
In 68 career SJHL games over the last three seasons, split between La Ronge and Melfort, Hufty has 14 goals and 30 points, after getting his first taste of junior with a four-game call-up to the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League back in 2022.
The Bruins will return to action this weekend for a back-to-back at Affinity Place, as the team hosts the Nipawin Hawks Friday and Flin Flon Bombers Saturday.
Both games will be available on FloHockey and the Bruins’ NEW YouTube Livestream. The Room By Room Furniture Pregame Show will begin both nights at 6:45 p.m., with puck drop at 7 p.m.
Tickets for this weekend’s games are available here.
