Bruins Acquire Will Koop From MJHL Steinbach Pistons

KOOP HAD 111 POINTS IN 111 REGULAR SEASON GAMES WITH STEINBACH.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins have acquired another dynamic center, picking up a high-scoring forward from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL).

The Bruins have dealt for 1998-born forward Will Koop from the Steinbach Pistons. The deal finalizes a series of trades beginning with the rights to goaltender Curtis Meger (’98) to the Lloydminister Bobcats (AJHL) on October 2nd.

No player off the Bruins’ active roster has been traded in the deal.

From Winnipeg, MB, Koop (5’9, 180 lbs) played the last two seasons with the Pistons tallying 111 points (47G, 64A) in 111 regular season games.

Koop also brings significant experience in the postseason, playing in 25 playoff games over the last two seasons, putting up 17 combined points (7G, 10A). Koop was a member of the 2017/18 MJHL Championship and Anavet Cup Championship Pistons squad that played in the RBC National Junior A Championship in Chilliwack, BC last spring.

In 2016/17, Koop represented Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge scoring one goal in four games.

Koop will wear (#16) for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins and will be in the lineup for Saturday night’s home game against the Nipawin Hawks.
