When Bruins fans take to Affinity Place tonight (Sat) to catch their team in action, there will be a new face donning the black and gold for the hometown team.

The Bruins are pleased to announce the team has signed forward Nathaniel Harvey following his release from the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). A product of La Malbaie, QC., Harvey is a versatile 19-year-old center/wing who split the last two years split between the Vipers, and the Victoriaville Tigers and Val-d’Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Head Coach and G.M. of the Bruins, Drew Kocur said while it took some time to get Harvey over – between paperwork and recruitment – it’s been well worth the wait to get him inserted into the lineup.

“Obviously we’re really excited, [it took] a lot of homework and a lot of paperwork and obviously just doing some video work on Nathaniel and seeing what kind of player he is, and we think he’s going to be a great addition to our group,” Kocur said.

“He’s slick, he’s confident with the puck and he skates well. He’s got a great release and he brings some added energy to the group. We’re excited to see what Nathaniel can do with the puck and at both ends of the ice.”

Nathaniel, or “Nate” as he commonly goes by, said it’s been a welcome introduction to the community since arriving.

“It’s been great; of course I was in BC so the drive was a little bit long, but the guys and the coaches have been great to me, so I’m super excited and can’t wait to join them [on the ice].”

As for what fans can expect, Harvey said his game starts with an up-tempo pace.

“I think I’m going to bring a lot of energy on the ice. I’m a two-way forward and my speed and my shot are my two best weapons,” he said.

Harvey will make his Bruins’ debut Saturday wearing #11. He will start on the right-wing side of Noah Asmundson and Colton Getzlaff in the top-six.

Saturday’s game will be available on FloHockey and for free on the Bruins YouTube Livestream. Pregame will begin at 6:45 p.m. with puck drop to follow at 7 p.m.
