Bruins Announce 2020-21 Leadership Group

(L-R) Devan Harrison, Austin King-Cunningham, Kade McMillen, Eddie Gallagher

The Estevan Bruins have announced their leadership group for the 2020-21 season, with a veteran group that features all four players entering at least their 3rd season with the club.

Captain – Austin King Cunningham

Assistant Captains – Eddie Gallagher, Devan Harrison, and Kade McMillen

Austin King-Cunningham has been named captain of the Estevan Bruins as he begins his 4th season with the club. The towering defenceman has developed into a well-respected teammate throughout his time with the team and his intimidating style of play on the ice also garners respect from players and teams across the SJHL. King-Cunningham has played with the Bruins since joining the team as a rookie defenceman in 2017-18 and was part of the Bruins’ team that went to Game 7 of the SJHL Championship against the Nipawin Hawks.

Devan Harrison and Kade McMillen are both entering their 3rd seasons with the club and both defenceman are retaining the ‘A’ on their jersey after serving as Assistant Captains for the team in 2019-20. Both players were at the top of the voting for ‘Best Defenceman’ in the the SJHL last year, with Harrison earning the Viterra Division’s nod for the title. Eddie Gallagher joins the trio as the offensively-gifted forward is also entering his 3rd season with the Bruins. Gallagher developed into one of the top scorers in the SJHL in the last half of 2019-20 and while he looks to build on his individual stats, Gallagher also helped develop the play of his fellow forwards on and off the ice.

All four players are in their final season of Junior Hockey and will be leaned on to help the club reach it’s goal of contending for the SJHL Championship in 2020-21.
