Bruins bolster offense with acquisition of Robertson

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins announced Thursday, the team has acquired forward, Cole Robertson to boost their offensive attack.

Robertson, a 19-year-old winger from Winnipeg, MB., joins the team following 15 games with the Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) dating back to last season, where he registered an assist with the team.

Completing the transaction, the Bruins have sent a fourth round draft pick and a Player Development Fee to the Kindersley Klippers for Robertson’s SJHL list rights, as well as an additional Player Development Fee to the Wranglers.

Head coach and GM of the Bruins, Jason Tatarnic said there’s lots to like about what Robertson (six-foot-three, 209 pounds) adds to the forward core.

“Cole is a big body that skates extremely well,” Tatarnic said. “We feel his size and speed will compliment our forward group, [and] he is expected to be in the line up against the Melfort Mustangs.”

Prior to joining the NAHL, Robertson captained his hometown Winnipeg Wild U18 AAA team during the 2022-23 season, finishing top-five in league scoring with a team-high 32 goals and 60 points in 44 games as a 17-year-old.

The Bruins will host the Mustangs in their return to action next Friday, Oct. 25, following an eight-day break in the schedule. The game will be available on FloHockey and for free on the Official Bruins’ YouTube Livestream, starting with the Room By Room Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 7 p.m.
