The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins are pleased to announce captain, Rorey Elson has committed to Neumann University (NCAA DIII) in Aston, PA., USA for the 2026-27 season.
Currently in his second year donning the Bruins’ black-and-gold, Elson said he’s looking forward to the opportunity ahead to continue his hockey career at the post-secondary level, sighting Neumann as a great fit both on and off the ice.
“They fit my needs academically and athletically,” Elson said. “They have a very strong business program, and they have an incredible internship program to get real business experience.”
With Neumann, Elson will also join a familiar face in fellow Bruins’ alum and teammate from a season ago, Hayden Pimm; a good friend he reached out to when doing his homework on the school.
“I chatted with Hayden to see how he was liking it, and he absolutely loves it there,” Elson said. “Having some reinsurance on that end really helped, and if it all works out it sounds like I will be living with him too.”
In addition to his leadership role on the team this season, Elson’s grit, energy, and work-ethic are all qualities Bruins’ Head Coach and G.M., Drew Kocur said will make him a valuable asset at the next level.
“He’s great in the community, always willing to give back, and he brings a never-quit mentality each day at the rink which is a great character trait to have in life,” Kocur said. “We’re very happy for Rorey to get the opportunity to continue his hockey journey and do it while attending post-secondary. He’s worked very hard for this and to see it come to fruition, I couldn’t be happier for him.”
Elson said from family and friends to coaches and teammates, he’s grateful for the support of those around him in helping him get to this point.
“Thank you to everyone that has helped me to become the player and person I am today as I couldn’t have done it without you,” he said. “Thank you to my mom and dad especially as I can’t imagine lugging me to practice and always being there to support me was easy for all these years. Thank you so much.”
Neumann University is currently second overall in the NCAA DIII’s Middle Atlantic Conference, with a 12-7-1 record through 20 games this season.
In addition to his play on the ice, Elson was also recognized as the Bruins’ RBC Community Ambassador this season. For the full story on Elson’s community involvement, CLICK HERE.
