The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins held their year-end awards banquet Sunday afternoon at the Beefeater Plaza, giving the players, their families, billets, and sponsors a chance to celebrate the best of the 2025-26 season.

Award winners:

Tower Cafe Most Valuable Player Award – Ewan Rennie

Canadian Tire Top Scorer Award – Ewan Rennie

Ewan Rennie took home this year’s Tower Cafe MVP Award and Canadian Tire Top Scorer Award, following a season for the books.

Leading the Bruins in both goals (37) and points (78), Rennie also led the entire SJHL in both goals and points/game (1.47), while finishing just two points back of the point-scoring title.

Rennie’s 78 points are tied with Zach Goberis (during the 2017-18 season) and Derek Derow (1995-96) for the most by a Bruin in 34 years, since the dynamic trio of Evan Anderson (108 points), Kim Maier (105 points) and Sean Tallaire (103 points) each cracked the century mark back in 1991-92.

Rennie’s play also earned him a Finalist nom as a front-runner for SJHL MVP and Forward of the Year.

Andrews enjoyed a tremendous breakout campaign in 2025-26, establishing new career-highs across the board in goals (11), assists (30) and points (41) in 54 games to finish sixth in defenceman scoring in the SJHL, while playing top-pairing minutes in all-situations with the team.

Spectra Financial Rookie of the Year Award – Cash Olson

A Finalist for SJHL Rookie of the Year as well, it was no surprise to see Olson’s name called for the Bruins’ Spectra Financial Rookie of the Year Award. Olson won the league’s rookie scoring race this season with 49 points (15G, 34A) in 56 games, playing an integral role in the success of the Bruins’ top forward line.

KSM Trucking Rocky Award – Owen Brees

A consistent physical force on the back-end, Brees was another natural selection when it comes to the team’s Rocky Award. Standing a solid 6-foot-1, 194-pounds, the Lethbridge, AB., product finished the season with 79 PIMS (including three fighting majors) in just 34 games while establishing himself as a feared open-ice hitter in his first season of SJHL play.

Crown Advertising Mr. Hustle Award – Lochlan Tetarenko

One of the fastest skaters in the league, and a tenacious pursuer of the puck, Tetarenko’s hustle was apparent each night to Bruins’ fans at Affinity Place. Whether on his horse to establish the forecheck, or pestering the opposition defensively on the penalty-kill, Tetarenko’s motor and hustle helps set the tempo for the team.

Training Staff Heart Award – Noah Asmundson

As per the award plaque: “The Bruins’ Heart Award is presented to the player who best exemplifies the 5 D’s: Dedication, Determination, Discipline, Drive, Desire and therefore the conviction it takes to fulfill the tradition, honour & significance of donning an Estevan Bruin jersey.”

As a 20-year-old and third-year Junior hockey vet, Asmundson showed his leadership on and off the ice all season exemplifying the traits described above in spades to earn this prestigious award.

JL’s Bike & Skate Most Underrated Player Award – Nathaniel Harvey

Since joining the Bruins in late October, Harvey’s mix of speed, skill and on-ice intensity have made him a standout and must-watch attraction at Bruins’ games. While the La Malbaie, QC., product’s quickness and offensive spark jumps off the page (28 points in 40 games), it’s the subtleties to his game such as his faceoff excellence and penalty-killing prowess that earn him this award.

Kingston Midstream Most Improved Player Award – Daniel Tverdovsky

A smooth-skating defender oozing potential, Tverdovsky only continued to grow in confidence and poise with the puck as he acclimated to life in the Junior ranks in Saskatchewan, making the most of his opportunities with crisp outlet passes such as this one:

CJ1050 Radio Most Sportsmanlike Player Award – Rylan Williams

Rylan Williams is presented the CJ1050 Radio Most Sportsmanlike Player Award by Bruins' coaches Aren Miller, Tucker Neuberger and Drew Kocur (Head Coach).

A top-five scorer in the league virtually wire-to-wire, finishing the season with 68 points (25G, 43A), Williams exemplified a high-caliber of on-ice play with class and sportsmanship throughout the season. Despite playing big minutes against other teams’ top checking units, Williams demonstrated a disciplined game with just 16 PIMS all season in 54 games. Williams plays the game hard, between the whistles as an example for young hockey fans.

Whether in the net, or on the playground during a school visit over recess, Dylan Adams quickly became one of the most recognizable Bruins’ faces of recent years. Adams’ laid-back demeanor and poise beyond his years helps him thrive between the pipes and while connecting with fans outside the rink.

Named the Bruins’ Community Ambassador for the 2025-26 season, Elson’s heart for giving back and willingness to go the extra mile has been well-documented this season. Whether making Valentine’s cards with the residents at Creighton Lodge, jumping into a flag football game at recess, or holding court taking questions in French class, Elson’s done it all.

Elson’s scholarship funds as this year’s Abe Berday Memorial Scholarship Award recipient will go towards his education this fall, as the Bruins’ captain announced his commitment to Neumann University for the 2026-27 season, back in early February.

Just three Bruins’ players managed to play all 56 games this season, earning the trio the Encompass Fitness Iron Man Award. Laing, Olson & Elson provided key minutes each game for the Bruins, excelling in their roles individually and giving the coaching staff reliable options each night whether on the blue line (Laing) or at the forward (Olson, Elson) positions.

The banquet concluded with the team presenting their traditional “Bruins’ alumni” rings to the 20-year-old contingent of graduating players.
