Bruins Fall Short in Hard-Fought Battle Against Flin Flon

ESTEVAN, SK — The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins put up a resilient effort at Affinity Place on Friday night, but ultimate special teams difficulties left them on the wrong end of a 4-1 decision against the Flin Flon Bombers. Despite pushing the pace in the second period, the Black and Gold were unable to overcome a tough night on the power play.

Resilient Middle Frame Sparks Energy

After giving up a tough goal early in the opening frame, the Bruins responded with high energy and increased physicality to open the second period.

The Bombers managed to slip an extra marker across the line at the 6:32 mark to build a brief 2-0 cushion. However, the Bruins showed zero quit and hit back exactly 32 seconds later. Oliver Kramp split the zone and slammed home a beautiful shot at 7:04 of the second period to send the home crowd into a frenzy. Ty Hynes and Caleb Potter provided the clinical setups on Kramp’s tally, bringing the Bruins within striking distance at 2-1.

Special Teams Stymie Comeback Effort

While the continuous pressure kept the Bruins right in the mix, capitalizing on power-play opportunities proved to be the missing link. The Black and Gold created premium scoring chances but went 0-for-8 on the man advantage, preventing the home squad from locking down a critical game-tying goal. The missed windows caught up to the Bruins late. Flin Flon broke through on a third-period power play at 7:20 and added a final unassisted insurance goal at 14:55 to seal the 4-1 finish.

Looking Forward

• Final Score: Estevan 1, Flin Flon 4

• Bruins Goal: Oliver Kramp (Assists: Ty Hynes, Caleb Potter)

• Total Shots: Bruins 31, Bombers 36

Head Coach Drew Kocur and the team will look to dust themselves off quickly and channel their momentum into a Saturday night home matchup.
