Bruins open first road swing in Humboldt

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins return to action Wednesday night in Humboldt, to kick off their first three-games in four-nights road trip of the season.

The Bruins (1-3-1) enter play coming off a big 4-2 victory over Flin Flon Saturday, having picked up three of a possible four points over the weekend as a whole.

The Broncos (4-1-1) are also coming off a strong weekend showing, with a statement 7-4 win over the Yorkton Terriers Sunday night, to complete their first three-games in three-nights road swing with five of a possible six points.

Headlining Wednesday’s matchup will be a pair of prominent Bruins’ debuts, as recently-acquired goaltender, Kyle Kelsey and forward, Jacob Hufty will both suit up for their first game with the team.

Kelsey signed with the Bruins this week after spending the last two seasons split between the Red Deer Rebels and Tri City Americans of the Western Hockey League. Hufty was acquired from La Ronge, and will play his first game on the right wing of Estevan’s top line, alongside Kent Moors and Ewan Rennie.

The Bruins will need a big night from their special teams, facing a Humboldt power play amongst the league’s best, clicking at just over 21 percent (third overall) to start the season.

The Bruins’ PK is among the team’s biggest improvements of late, having killed off four-of-five against a deadly Bombers’ man-advantage in their last game, while also chipping in an unmatched three shorthanded goals in their last two games.

Wednesday’s game will be available on FloHockey and on the NEW Bruins’ YouTube Livestream. The Room By Room Furniture Pregame Show will begin on the stream at 6:45 p.m. with puck drop to follow at 7 p.m.
