The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins are pleased to announce the first-ever edition of the Bruins Yearbook. VOL I will be available for sale at the team office as of Wednesday night’s game versus Kindersley (Oct. 15).
The ultimate guide to all things Bruins, the Yearbook was written and compiled by voice of the Bruins Marty Martinson, who said it’s “all about providing fans a unique collection of feature articles, photographs and memories from the year that highlight the team’s accomplishments, triumphs and value to the community.”
Complete with player commitments from the last year, and in-depth features on returning talents such as Ewan Rennie, Rorey Elson and hometown product Carter Onrait, the book also highlights some of the major moves from over the summer such as the acquisitions of star forwards Rylan Williams and Colton Getzlaff and what their commitment to the team means both on and off the ice.
A detailed write-up on the team’s rookie crop of signings from the summer, complete with insights from Director of Player Personnel Dusty Wlaz gives fans valuable background information on their favourite fresh faces, and leads into a full roster overview with headshots and an autograph page for signings fans can collect throughout the season.
Also included in VOL I is a special reflection piece looking back at the 2022 Bruins Championship team. It includes stat graphics, player highlights, and a full timeline of the championship run, with behind the scenes perspectives sprinkled in throughout from fan-favourites Boston Bilous and Dayton Deics, sharing their recollections from winning a championship in the community.
“Back at the start of the summer, when we first started planning the Yearbook and what it would look like, I thought for Volume I it was important to include some nods to the team’s rich history and some alumni as well,” Martinson said. “That’s why we included things like the Trivia and the ’22 Reflection, and to have great guys like Dayton Deics and Boston Bilous take the time to share their memories absolutely brings the Storybook Season feature to life.”
Bruins’ trivia will challenge even the most knowledgeable fans, while photo galleries from the team’s marquee fundraisers and community involvement showcase the various ways the team is involved with giving back during their time away from the rink.
The Yearbook also includes 2025-26 previews for all 12 SJHL teams, sorted by Division and complete with notable players to watch throughout the season around the league.
“I wanted to include Team Reports for the whole league because it gives fans an idea of some notable players to watch heading into each game,” Martinson said. “No matter which team is in town, or how closely you’ve followed the SJHL, it gives you some names to watch for and a bit more context for the matchups.”
A special fundraiser spotlight on the organization’s new Bushels for the Bruins initiative written by Bruins’ board member, Paul Carroll highlights the many people and businesses from within the local Ag. Community who have come together to make the Bruins’ fundraising efforts possible.
“This book is the first of what we hope to be many over the coming years, highlighting the best of Bruins’ hockey. It’s a keepsake and a book I hope longtime and new fans alike can have to hold onto and look back on fondly for many years to come,” Martinson said.
I would like to say a special thank-you to Wanda Harron Photography and Billy Durr Photography for submitting so many amazing photos; Graphic Press for their excellent printing services; the local sponsors for their belief in the vision, and the Bruins’ players, staff and board for sharing their stories.”
The Bruins Yearbook will be exclusively available at the Bruins team office for $20. You can get yours at game nights starting Oct. 15, or during regular office hours (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
