Cash Olson Wins 2026 Calcutta Shootout

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins held their annual Calcutta Shootout Fundraiser following their 7-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires on February 28th.

The shootout is one of many fundraisers that support the club throughout the year. Fans stuck around after the big win to enjoy watching the fun and creativity shown off by the players, with each skater trying hard to earn the distinction of the Calcutta Shootout champion.

22 Bruins’ skaters took part in the competition, along with: Head Coach Drew Kocur, Assistant Coach Tucker Neuberger, Bruino the Bear, and former Bruin captain Brady Wilson. Wilson also happened to be a former Calcutta Shootout champion, winning the event in 2023-24.

Both Bruins’ goaltenders, Nathan Kam and Dylan Adams, took part as well, with fans able to bid on their final save percentage as part of the fundraiser.

Each player took two shots per round, one on each goaltender. Anyone who didn’t score was eliminated, anyone who scored once advanced to the next round, and anyone who scored on both shots got a ‘bye’ to Round 3.

In Round 1, Cash Olson and Drew Beasley scored twice so they jumped to Round 3. Scoring one goal were: Orsen Poll, Rorey Elson, Carter Onrait, Nathaniel Harvey, Ewan Rennie, Ethan Andrews, Oliver Kramp, Matthew Ronn, and Tucker Neuberger.

Poll, Elson, Rennie, and Andrews scored in Round 2 to join Olson and Beasley in Round 3. Olson and Beasley were the only players to score in Round 3, so they advanced to the final. The other four shooters would battle it out for 3rd place, with Elson and Rennie having a lengthy battle that Elson eventually would win to claim 3rd.

Olson and Beasley went three rounds back-and-forth in the final, with Olson claiming the victory and was crowned the Calcutta Shootout champion.

Nathan Kam and Dylan Adams faced more total shots (65 each) than any other goalies in the recorded history of the Calcutta Shootout. Kam finished with a .769 SV% (50/65) while Adams finished with a .738 SV% (48/65).

The Bruins want to thank all the fans for making bids in the Calcutta Shootout, and for sticking around to watch the event creating an amazing atmosphere inside Affinity Place on Saturday night.
