Certified Energy ‘Chase The Ace’ Jackpot Surpasses $20,000!

The support for the Estevan Bruins and the Certified Energy ‘Chase the Ace’ raffle has reached another significant milestone as we enter the homestretch of the fundraiser!

On Saturday, April 17th, we drew Guy Hiltz as the Week 14 prize winner of $1,424! Guy became the second person (Connie Gibson) to win our weekly draw twice, as Guy also won back in Week 3! However, Guy did not pull the Ace of Spades to win the progressive jackpot…meaning our current jackpot of $20,021 carries over the Week 15!

“We can’t say enough about how well the Certified Energy ‘Chase the Ace’ fundraiser has gone over the past three months since our first draw back in January,” expressed Danny Ewen, Director of Marketing & Operations for the Estevan Bruins. “To see how far we’ve come since selling 320 tickets in Week 1 to now having over 1,420 tickets in Week 14 and awarding that large of a weekly prize to one lucky person in our community is pretty surreal. And yet, we’re still not finished!”

The final potential draw date for the raffle is June 5th, meaning there are only a maximum of seven weeks remaining before the jackpot gets awarded. If the Ace of Spades is not pulled before Week 21 (June 5th), then the jackpot must be awarded that night using only the tickets purchased for Week 21. The first name pulled will win the weekly prize, then have a chance to pull the Ace of Spades just like every other week. However, if that person does not pull the Ace of Spades, a new name will be drawn. That new name will not win any weekly prize, but will have one chance to pull the Ace of Spades. If they are unsuccessful, a new name is pulled and the process continues until one lucky person pulls the Ace of Spades and wins the entire progressive jackpot.

There are only a maximum of 20,000 tickets available in the raffle. Once tickets sell out, that week’s draw will be the final week of the raffle. That means, for example, if all 20,000 tickets are sold before Week 19’s draw then that will be the draw where the jackpot is awarded and there will be no raffle for Week 20 or Week 21.

“If we average around 1,500 tickets for each week moving forward, then it’s likely we will sell out of tickets before the Week 20 draw,” adds Ewen. “And it’s possible we sell out sooner than that, because more and more people are buying tickets each week and we could have some upcoming draws reaching 2,000 or 2,500 tickets sold. So if I were giving advice, I would tell people not to wait until the last week because you might miss out completely!”

Each week, the Estevan Bruins receive 50% of that week’s ticket sales. 20% of that week’s ticket sales are awarded to the weekly winner. 30% of that week’s ticket sales are used to build the Progressive Jackpot. One name is drawn for the weekly prize, then that person will have one chance to pull the Ace of Spades and win the jackpot. If they are unsuccessful, the jackpot carries over to the next week and the card chosen is destroyed. Tickets do not carry over to the next draw, you must purchase new tickets for each week’s draw. You do not have to be present to win the prize or to pull from the deck of cards, as a ‘Charity Assigned Proxy’ will pull a card if the winner is not present. All draws are streamed on Facebook Live beginning at 8:15pm every Saturday night at The Beef Bar.
