The Estevan Bruins have acquired forward Daniel O’Neill (02) from the Steinbach Pistons for a player development fee.
”Danny is a player I am familiar with from British Collumbia. He’s a big a body that skates very well and who can kill penalties for us. It’s nice to add size down the middle and we are looking forward to inserting him into the line-up next week” commented Head Coach Jason Tatarnic.
Welcome to the Bruins Daniel!
Ilia Chmelevski and Gabriel Filion also joined the roster this week and both are expected to be in the line-up this weekend. Chmelevski was acquired in a trade form the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL earlier this week. Chmelevski played for the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League where he suited ups for 20 games as a 17 year old.
Filion played twenty games for the Grande Prairie Storm were he registered 1 goal and 2 assists. Prior to Grande Prairie Filion recorded 11 goals and 7 assists for the Rockland Nationals of the CCHL as a 17 year old.
“Ilia is a smart player who sees the ice well and we feel he will compliment us well up front with our existing forwards. Filion is a player we are familiar with as we tried to acquire his rights this summer from Rockland. He skates very well who has a great release and we feel if he gets some chances he will find the back of the net. He put up good numbers as a 17 year old. We feel we’ve added two young players that are talented’ commented Head Coach Jason Tatarnic.
The Bruins are on the road for a two game weekend.
Friday in Melville against the Millionaires at 7pm
Saturday in Yorkton against the Terriers at 7pm.
Both games can be viewed on Hockey TV, or listen on Rock 106fm for the live play by play.
