The first Domino’s Pizza Player of the Month recipient has been chosen and the honour goes to 20-year-old forward: Mark Rumsey!
The veteran forward from St. John’s, Newfoundland tallied a team-high 23 points (11G/12A) in 15 games played in September and October to start the 2021/22 SJHL season. Rumsey leads the Bruins in all three categories, as well as penalty minutes (40 PIM), powerplay goals (5 PPG), and game-winning goal (3 GWG).
Rumsey has put together two separate 6-game point streaks to start the year, including his current 6-game streak where he has put up 14 PTS (6G, 8A) heading into the month of November. Rumsey sits 3rd overall in SJHL scoring, just one point back of a pair of Humboldt Broncos with 24 points (Logan Kurki, Connor McGrath). Rumsey’s 11 goals are 2nd overall behind Broncos’ forward Alec Saretsky (12 G).
Rumsey and the Bruins closed off the month of October with five straight wins and earned a point in seven consecutive games (6-0-0-1). For the season, Estevan sits 3rd overall with a 11-3-0-1 record (23 points), just one point behind Humboldt and the Flin Flon Bombers (24 points).
