Hrdlicka Earns Another SJHL ‘Goalie of the Week’

It’s been a stellar season for second-year goaltender Cam Hrdlicka, and the accolades continue to roll in as the regular season winds down.

Hrdlicka has been named the SJHL ‘Goalie-of-the-Week’ for Feb. 20-26 after two outstanding performances in net over the past week. It’s the third weekly honour of the year for Hrdlicka (Oct. 3-9th & Oct. 31-Nov. 6) in addition to his SJHL ‘Goalie-of-the-Month’ honour in November.

Hrdlicka started and got the win in both games for the Bruins this week, leading to Estevan clinching a spot for the 2023 Playoffs. Hrdlicka was near-perfect on Wednesday in Melville, stopping (30/31) in a 7-1 victory over the Millionaires. Then on Saturday hosting Yorkton, Hrdlicka was even better stopping (35/37) in a 4-2 win in front of the home crowd at Affinity Place.

The two wins put Hrdlicka over the 20-win mark, as he now holds a (21-14-0-2) record on the season. Hrdlicka has appeared in an SJHL-leading 41 games, and is among the league-leaders in G.A.A. (2.91), SV% (.915) while leading the SJHL in shutouts with 5.

Additionally, Hrdlicka was one of the goaltenders at the SJHL-MJHL Showcase held in Winnipeg on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. In his lone start, Hrdlicka stopped all 35 shots he faced earning a shutout in the all-star showcase.

It’s been a great season for the fan favourite in net, and the Bruins will continue to rely on Hrdlicka’s outstanding play as they prepare to defend the SJHL Championship in the playoffs a few weeks from now.
