Jayden Davis Named February SJHL ‘Player of the Month’

The Estevan Bruins were the SJHL’s top team in the final month of the regular season, as the club won 10 of 12 games in the month of February to finish the season 6th overall in the standings.

Leading the way both on and ice the ice was the team Captain, 20-year-old forward Jayden Davis. And for his efforts, Davis has been named as the SJHL ‘Player of the Month’ for February.

Davis (Alameda, SK) tallied at least a point in every game in February, scoring 18 points (6G, 12A) in 12 games to finish with a team-high 58 points (21G, 37A) while playing in all 58 games this season. His current 12-game point streak ties him for the 3rd longest streak in the SJHL this year heading into the Bruins first-round playoff matchup against the Melfort Mustangs.

With the Bruins on the outside of the playoff picture looking in at the Christmas break, multiple players stepped up their game to help vault the team into a playoff position. In the 25 games since Christmas where the Bruins went (18-6-1), Davis’ 30 points was second to only teammate Eddie Gallagher’s 32 points.

Jayden Davis is finishing his final season of junior hockey and his 4th season with the Bruins. Davis has been a part of three teams that made the SJHL semi-final and has one SJHL championship appearance with the club in 2017/18. Having played a combined 231 games between regular season and playoffs (155 points, 51G, 104A), Davis will be looking to lead the Bruins to the team’s first SJHL championship since 1998/99.
