The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins are coming off a pair of wins over La Ronge last week to kick-off their five-game homestand, and stretch their winning streak to three-straight, during which the team has averaged an incredible 7.0 goals/game.

Wednesday

Wednesday night the Bruins came out swinging on their way to a 7-1 win over the Ice Wolves, led by a Cash Olson hat-trick.

Olson’s first two opened the scoring to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead at the end of the first. A pair by Noah Asmundson in the second – both on the power play – then stretched the lead to 4-1 B’s heading into the third.

Nathaniel Harvey and Rylan Williams each pitched in a beauty in the third, with Harvey’s coming on a breakaway, and Williams’ serving as the finishing touch on a sharp passing play for the team’s third power play strike of the night.

Olson then bookended the scoring with his third of the night to cap his 1st SJHL hat trick, converting the rebound of local ‘AP’ call-up, Gunner Moore on a 2-on-0 to bring the hats raining down from the stands.

Olson spoke postgame about the milestone, highlighting his teammates’ role and their support.

“Obviously I was excited, it’s a great milestone to get, especially in your first year in the SJ,” Olson said. “But I had a bunch of guys behind me even more excited that I did it, so it made it even more special [to share it] with those guys.”

Between the pipes, Dylan Adams stopped 30/31 to backstop the team to victory, while Ewan Rennie (4A), Rylan Williams and Nathaniel Harvey (1G, 1A apiece), and Colton Getzlaff (3A) also pitched in multipoint games.

Friday

The Bruins continued to roll in their lone game of the weekend, Friday, taking home a 7-3 win in the rematch with the Ice Wolves.

After La Ronge came out to a 2-0 lead early, this time it was Ewan Rennie getting the homeside on the board, notching his first of the night in a monster three-point (2G, 1A) performance to bring the teddys hailing down to the ice on Teddy Bear Toss Night.

Building on the momentum the Bruins came out flying in the second, with Harvey firing home his fifth goal in his last three games on the power play, followed by three more Bruins’ tallies from Chase Holt, Rylan Williams and Lochlan Tetarenko.

In the third, Ethan Andrews added his eighth of the campaign to add to his league-leading total amongst defencemen, followed by Rennie’s second of the game to cap the night’s action.

In goal, Nathan Kam made 30 saves on 33 shots to backstop the victory.

The Bruins will return to play Tuesday night when the team hosts the Bunge Division rival, Yorkton Terriers for a Tuesday night showdown at Affinity Place. The game will be available on FloHockey and for free on the Bruins YouTube Livestream. Pregame will start at 6:45 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 7 p.m.
