The Estevan Bruins annual Calcutta Shootout was held on Saturday, January 18th following the team’s home game against the Weyburn Red Wings.
The Calcutta Shootout is an annual fundraiser hosted by and supporting the Estevan Bruins. Each skater on the team participates as well as each goaltender. In Round 1, everyone gets two shots (one on each goalie) with those who score advancing to the next round and those who don’t score being eliminated until 3 skaters finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As well, each goaltender has their personal save percentage calculated when the shootout is completed.
There are 5 successful bidders in the Calcutta Shootout, with those five winners splitting their half of the total money raised and the remaining 50% of total money being donated to the Bruins Education Fund. A total of $2,125 was raised this year for the Bruins Education Fund!
