PLAYER ADVANCEMENT: Eddie Gallagher Commits To Northland College

The Estevan Bruins are proud to announce that graduating forward Eddie Gallagher (’00) of St. Albert, AB has committed to the Northland College LumberJacks program for the 2021-22 season!

Located in Ashland, Wisconsin, the LumberJacks play in WIAC, Wisconsin Intercollege Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III. Seamus Gregory, Northland College’s Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Hockey Coach, had this to say about the commitment of Gallagher to Northland College.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add Eddie to our program. Coming into this season, we need to be better, we targeted players who we felt can step in and make an immediate impact and Eddie can do just that for us. He has the skill, work ethic and determination to play at the next level and he is committed to getting better each day. We have had great success in recruiting quality persons from the SJHL and Eddie too will fit in the room just fine. Anytime we can add a player from a proud franchise and city like Estevan, it’s very positive”.

Eddie Gallagher celebrates his 1st period goal against Humboldt on Nov. 14th, 2020.

Gallagher (5’10, 175 lbs) played three seasons for the Bruins from 2018-19 to 2020-21. The speedy and skilled forward put up good numbers in his rookie season, with 18 PTS (7G, 11A) in 43 GP while playing down the depth chart with limited powerplay time. After earning a more prominent offensive role in his second season, Gallagher’s game went to a new level as he finished 2nd in team scoring with 50 PTS (15G 35A) in 56GP while only taking 4 PIM all season. Gallagher then put up 5 PTS (2G, 3A) in Estevan’s four playoff games before the rest of the playoffs were cancelled. Gallagher then started the shortened 2020-21 season on fire, with 9 PTS (4G, 5A) in 6GP before the season was suspended and then cancelled.

“We are very happy to see Eddie will be continuing his hockey career at the college level. Northland has an excellent program and we look forward to watching his college career after a successful run in Estevan.” – Jason Tatarnic, Head Coach/GM

Gallagher is the second Bruins’ player from the 2020-21 Bruins to commit to a USports or NCAA program this offseason, as Kade McMillen committed to Trinity Western University earlier this offseason. Congrats Eddie!
