Witzke Presented With RBC Community Ambassador Award

A fan favourite for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins during his 2+ seasons with the club, veteran defenceman Johnny Witzke was recognized for his contribution to Estevan and area before Tuesday night’s home game.

Witzke was presented with a plaque as the Bruins’ 18/19 RBC Community Ambassador, a new honour being bestowed on one player from each SJHL team this season.

The Bismarck, North Dakota-raised Witzke (1998) has been very involved in the community for all three seasons he has played in Estevan.  In recognition of Johnny Witzke, RBC will make a $1,000 donation to the City of Estevan.  These funds is to be directed to a specific project in the city such as arena upgrades, sports equipment for youth, recreation programs, or education initiatives.

Witzke is working with the city to host a ‘Free Skate With The Bruins’ on the Family Day holiday on Monday, February 18th. More details will be announced closer to the date.

At the end of the season, RBC will announce which one of the 12 team ambassadors will win an additional $2,500 to put back into the community.
