Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

2026 Bruins Hockey School

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins are looking forward to the return of their annual Hockey Schools and Skills Sessions this summer. There are three (3) different programs available for participants this year.

PROGRAM #1 – Bruins Traditional Kids Hockey School – August 10th to August 13th – Four (4) Days – U9, U11, U13 Age Groups

“The first program is our traditional Kid’s Hockey School.  It is a great experience for up-and-coming hockey players,” Bruins Head Coach and G.M., Drew Kocur said.

“The kids’ camp is a fun and safe environment for kids to hone their skills and work on hockey fundamentals, but also have fun and meet new friends.”

This will be Coach Drew Kocur’s second year heading the program, after his first successful year last year.  The activities will include two (2) ice-sessions per day, one (1) stick handling and shooting session per day, dryland and recreation gym time and other fun activities.   There will be a maximum of 25 participants on a first-come basis, plus goalies.

U7 Kids will also be permitted to registered but will not be a full-day session for that age-group, rather there will be four (4) skates from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm daily.

U9, U11, U13 – Cost $400.00 plus GST

PROGRAM #2 – Week 2: “Individualized” Skills Camp – August 14, August 17 to 21:

The Individualized Skills Camp is available for ages U9, U11 and U13 with a focus on more specific-to-each-participant skill development.

The “Individualized skills” camp offers a chance for participants to work on the specific skills they want to take to the next level along with more one-on-one coaching due to smaller group sizes.  There will be only 2 players per instructor.

If your child is looking to develop a more efficient skating stride, or seeking pointers to take their shot to the next level, this is the program for your participant.

This year’s camp will not be a full-day camp for the Individualized session, rather will include only ice-sessions this year.  This will provide more recovery time for the participants to devote more effort to the ice sessions.   There will be a maximum of 20 participants per group on a first come basis.

Specifical Goalie Instruction will be available for those goalie participants.

PROGRAM #3 – Evenings Week 2 – High-Performance U15 and U18 Tryout Preparation Ice Sessions

The Bruins third program offering this coming summer will focus on High Performance Skates for those participants interested in highly-competitive ice sessions.

“We received some feedback that parents did not feel that some of the summer programs offered in south-east Saskatchewan were geared toward camp preparation for highly competitive players”, said Drew Kocur.  “We wanted to bring in a program with some special instructors and provide an offering to both the female and male groups at the U15 and U18 ages”.

Drew noted, “These types of players do not want to be around the rink all-day, and this program will provide to those kids six (6) highly competitive skates to prepare the participants for upcoming tryouts.  We think these designed sessions will be a good blend of conditioning, puck-touches, and competitive drills to get the kids back up to their potential”.

The camp will be one (1) hour per day for six (6) hours of instruction.

All programs will include instruction from Bruins coaches and players, with current players coming out to help with the on-ice coaching and leading group events this year.

“To see the Bruins players here helping and working with the next generation of young players, you love to see it,” Kocur said. “The players feel much closer to the community getting to know the kids and parents, and this is a positive program for everyone involved.”
