The Estevan Bruins are a proud member of the 12-team Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Our club plays out of beautiful Affinity Place in Estevan, which has a capacity of 2,500 fans (plus additional standing room) and has seen sell-outs during recent playoff runs, including the 2022 SJHL Championship! The club has also played host to the 2022 Centennial Cup, hosting 10 CJHL champions from across Canada in the National Championship. Estevan also hosted the 2016 Western Canada Cup.

The arena is unmatched compared to all other SJHL arenas and is widely considered one of the top 2 Junior A hockey arenas in all of Canada featuring a new state-of-the-art scoreclock installed in 2023. Additional features include a top-of-the-line dressing room, players lounge & video training room, an on-site workout facility, squash courts, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, library, multi-purpose gym facility, and a secondary ice surface (Power Dodge Ice Centre).

The SJHL regular season consists of 56 games, including 2 games at the Annual SJHL Showcase which takes place in Warman, Saskatchewan during the first few weeks of the season. League playoffs begin in March, with the top 8 teams qualifying, and playoffs extend to the end of April. The league champion wins the Canterra Seeds Cup and advances to the Centennial Cup.

The Bruins are a publicly-owned team with a rich history dating back to 1957. The club is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of a Team President and six other executive members. The office staff includes Jason Tatarnic, who serves as the Bruins’ Head Coach & General Manager, Melissa Deitz & Robert Godfrey of Lemon Wedge Marketing Group act as the team’s Director of Marketing & Gameday Operations, and Tannis Harrison as the Office Administrator and Head Trainer. However, several volunteers are relied on throughout the season and the Estevan Bruins are proud to have one of the most dedicated and passionate volunteer bases in the SJHL.

Families and friends can watch or listen to all Estevan Bruins’ games from anywhere in the world. Rock106 (106.1FM) in Estevan broadcasts all regular season road games and all playoffs games on the radio. HockeyTV has a partnership with the SJHL where all games are available to watch online (subscription required), and SJHL has partnered with SaskTel to broadcast games at the SJHL Showcase in Warman, the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina in January, and the Canterra Seeds Cup Final Best-of-7 series.

The City of Estevan (population 12,000) is located in the southeast corner in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The city has most if not all amenities of a larger center, with a small-town feel and is very easy to get around all areas of the city in a short amount of time. There is a strong connection between the team and the community, with a passionate fan base and supportive following for over 60 years. Estevan is approximately a 2-hour drive from the two closest international airports in Regina, Saskatchewan and Minot, North Dakota, a 5-hour drive from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and just minutes away from the Canada/U.S.A. border.
