Bruins Trade Hamilton To MJHL, Add Bilous (G) & Release Schmidt To PJHL

(L-R) Lucius Schmidt, Boston Bilous, Troy Hamilton

The Estevan Bruins have made several transactions this week.

Nov. 10th, 2020 – Bruins Trade Troy Hamilton (F – ’01) to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines (MJHL) in exchange for Future Considerations.

The Estevan Bruins have traded 2nd-year forward Troy Hamilton to the Wolverines (MJHL) as the team trims down it’s roster for the 2020-21 season. Hamilton is entering his second season of junior hockey and will be returning to his home province. The Brandon-born forward suited up in 41 games last season as a rookie for the Estevan Bruins, tallying 29 PTS (11G, 18A) and 100 PIM. Hamilton added 2G in 4 playoff games last season as well, both coming in the Bruins 4-1 series opening victory against the Melfort Mustangs.

The Estevan Bruins thank Troy for his contributions to the team on the ice and to the community off the ice, and wish him the best of luck in Waywayseecappo!

Nov. 10th, 2020 – Bruins Release Lucius Schmidt (F – ’02) to the Pilot Butte Storm (PJHL)

The Estevan Bruins have released rookie forward Lucius Schmidt from the Bruins active roster. Schmidt will now play Junior B for his hometown team, the Pilot Butte Storm in the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL). Schmidt signed on with the Bruins this past offseason after spending last year with the U18 Moose Jaw Warriors (SMAAAHL), tallying 29 PTS (12G, 17A) and 64 PIM in 43 GP.

The Estevan Bruins thank Lucius for his attitude, effort, and commitment to the club!

Nov. 12th, 2020 – Bruins Add Boston Bilous (G – ’01) On Loan From Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)

The Estevan Bruins have added goaltender Boston Bilous on loan for the start of the 2020-21 SJHL season from the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors. Bilous joins the club after playing the last three seasons in the WHL, playing a total of 59 games last year between the Prince Albert Raiders and the Warriors. Bilous was also a member of the 2018 WHL Championship team in Prince Albert, along with now Bruins-teammates Cole Fonstad and Eric Pearce.

Bilous will join the team for the start of the season before returning to Moose Jaw at the Christmas break, similar to Fonstad (Everett), Pearce (Prince Albert) and defenceman Nolan Jones (Moose Jaw). Bilous will not count towards the team’s 25-man roster, as all SJHL teams are allowed to carry a 3rd goaltender during this COVID season without counting towards the roster size.
