The announcement was made on Facebook Live by Danny Ewen, Director of Marketing & Operations for the Estevan Bruins. The support from the Estevan and area community, as well as others across Saskatchewan, during the final week of the fundraiser was overwhelming. The jackpot total increased over $10,000 in the final ten days, meaning both the winner and the Estevan Bruins would see an even bigger payday than what was anticipated.

“On behalf of the Estevan Bruins organization, we want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who purchased a ticket in the Mega 50/50 fundraiser,” expressed Ewen. ” The support for our team has never been in question and our fans, friends and family stepped up to the plate once again to ensure this fundraiser was a huge success which will greatly benefit the bottom line for our club.”

According to stats from EchoLotto, a total of 1159 tickets were sold in the fundraiser. The most popular option was the 8 for $100 choice, with 108 people choosing that option. 80 buyers selected the 3 for $50 option, and 55 buyers selected the 1 for $20 option.

Nick Sereggela and the Sereggela family have been supporters of the Estevan Bruins for decades, with the family’s support dating all the way back to the club’s inception in 1957. Nick has not only been a longtime season ticket holder, but also served as the team’s Head Coach and GM from 1999-2001 and was an Assistant Coach when the Bruins won their last SJHL championship in 1998-99.

This was the first year for the Mega 50/50 fundraiser, and it’s anticipated that the Mega 50/50 will return in future off-seasons.
