Witzke Named To RBC/SJHL Community Ambassador Team

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins, along with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), have announced that third-year defenceman Johnny Witzke has been named as our 2018/19 RBC Community Ambassador.

The league-wide award, which includes one player from all 12 SJHL teams, recognizes players who make a difference in the community both on and off the ice. Each player honoured has displayed dedication, sportsmanship, and a commitment to volunteerism.

Johnny Witzke (’98, Bismarck, N.D.) has ingrained himself in the Estevan and area community throughout his time patrolling the Bruins blueline. In his spare time, Witzke has been seen teaching youngsters hockey skills on the ice, joining other players on school visits, ringing bells at Christmas time for the Salvation Army, and never saying no to meeting a young fan and chatting with them.

As part of the ambassador program, RBC will be making a donation to our local community. At the end of the regular season, one RBC Community Ambassador will be selected as the recipient of the RBC Community Award. That would include a further donation to our local community if Witzke was named as the winner.

Witzke will be recognized with the award during RBC’s Game Night in Estevan on Tuesday, January 8th at 7:00pm against the Yorkton Terriers.
