2023 Graduating Bruins

With the 2022/23 season now finished, the Estevan Bruins will say goodbye to 7 players who have played their final game in junior hockey.

2 – Aleksa Babic (D)

Aleksa joined the Bruins in 2020 and played 3 season with the Bruins, which included the “lost” 2020/21 year. This year, Aleksa was named an assistant captain, played in every game, and finished tied for 4th among all SJHL defencemen in scoring with 42 PTS.

9 – Cody Davis (F)

Cody is the longest tenured graduating player, playing parts of 5 seasons with the Estevan Bruins starting as a call-up in 2018/19. Cody was named an Assistant Captain for his final season of junior, and his last goal scored will be the Game 5 OT winner in Flin Flon that gave the Bruins a lead in the series.

14 – Dan O’Neill (F)

Dan joined the Bruins this year after a mid-November trade from Steinbach. In 23 games with the Bruins, Dan tallied 2 goals and 8 assists
for 10 points and added 37 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, O’Neill registered 1 assist and 12 PIM in 5 games.

Dan was also given the ‘Abe Berday Memorial Scholastic Award’, which is presented to a player who excels academically during the hockey season, and maintains a high grade while also playing effective minutes for the team.

17 – Mitch Kohner (F)

Mitch joined the Bruins during the 21/22 season and was part of the 2022 Championship team. In 75 combined games, Kohner tallied 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points and added 177 penalty minutes.

Mitch was also the 2022/23 winner of the ‘Estevan Bruins Heart Award’, given to a player that shows the greatest level of work ethic, team spirit, determination, dedication, and drive on the team.

18 – Kade Runke (F)

🏆Kade joined the Bruins in 2021/22 and was part of the 2022 Championship team.
🍕 Kade also has the distinction of being only 1 of 2 players ever to “Feed The Rink” with Tower Pizza after scoring 4 goals in a home game against Weyburn in March 2022.
👨‍✈️ Kade was named Captain of the Bruins for his final season of junior.
🚨In 127 combined games, Runke registered 56 goals and 58 assists for 114 points and added 176 PIM.
🥇 Kade won the Bruins’ Top Scorer award this year with 54 PTS (26G/28A) in 50 GP.

21 – Robbie Stewart (D)

Robbie joined the Bruins in the offseason for his final year of junior, after winning a league championship last year with Ottawa and playing in the Centennial Cup last May in Estevan. In 54 games with the Bruins, Stewart registered 12 assists for 12 points and added 94 penalty minutes.

Robbie was also the winner of the Estevan Bruins ‘Most Underrated Player Award’, presented to the player or players that make the most significant contribution in their role on the team, while possibly being overshadowed by their teammates or ignored by their opponents.

27 – Owen Miley (D)

Owen joined the Bruins in the offseason for his final year of junior. In 51 games with the Bruins, Miley registered 7 goals and 17 assists for 24
points and added 20 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, Miley chipped in 1 assist and 6 PIM while playing big minutes on the blueline.
