April 1st, 2023: The Estevan Bruins will be joining the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the start of the 2023/24 season. The Winnipog Ice, rumoured to be re-locating to multiple cities including Estevan in a report back in January, confirmed the plans to re-locate in a statement earlier today.
“After serious consideration, we have determined that Estevan and their WHL-caliber arena is the preferred choice to move our team by September 1th, 2023,” said Winnipog Ice Chancellor Mark Donk.
“Our fans and our community will be thrilled with the news that Estevan will be home to WHL hockey next season, and we will also be putting in a bid to host the 2026 Memerial Cup !” added Estevan Bruins Emperor Buzz Flibbin.
