The Estevan Bruins season opener is just two days aware as they host the Melville Millionaires on September 22nd at 7pm in Affinity Place.  The Bruins finished the pre-season schedule with 5 wins and 1 loss and are looking to build of this momentum heading into Friday night.  Head Coach & General Manager had this to say about opening night “It’s always an exciting time for the players as they can’t wait to start the regular season.  The vets and the first year players have been preparing for this over the summer and now you will play against the opposition’s best players now.  We like our line-up right now and we know we will be facing a team that will work extremely hard under their Head Coach Doug Johnson.”
The Bruins have a strong core returning as they have 15 players returning for the 2023-2024 campaign.  Fourth year player Keagon Little has been named the team captain is expected to provide leadership and provide offensive numbers for the Bruins.  “Keagon has been great for us and has made sure all the new players felt comfortable in Estevan on day one. He’s an important piece for us in the dressing room and definitely on the ice” noted Tatarnic.  The biggest strength of the Bruins is that they have both goaltenders returning that features one of the best goaltenders in Western Canada in Cam Hrdlaicka and local product Jackson Miller who ready for more playing time this season.
When asked about season expectations Tatarnic replied “We feel we have a very balanced line-up heading into the weekend but as everyone knows the test starts at puck drop and ends at the final buzzer”.
