Fitzpatrick becomes the Overtime Hero in Game 4

Caelan Fitzpatrick scored the game winner five minutes into overtime and the Estevan Bruins beat the Notre Dame Hounds 3-2 in Game 4 Thursday night in Wilcox.

The Bruins now lead the best of sevenĀ first round series 3-1.

After Notre Dame captain Kevin Anderson tied the game early in the third period, Bruins forward Eric Pearce appeared to have scored with just a couple minutes left in regulation, but the goal was waved off. The officials ruledĀ that the net had been dislodged prior to the puck crossing the goal line.

Estevan fired 43 shots at Hounds goaltender Austin Elliott, who kept his team in the game all night.

Fitzpatrick was able to bang in a rebound from in tight to seal the win in overtime.

Defencemen Nolan Jones and Kian Calder also scored for Estevan, while Nolen Coventry scored the other goal for Notre Dame.

 

Bruins goaltender Boston Bilous made 27 saves in the win.

Estevan can close out the series with a win on home ice in Game 5 Saturday night at Affinity Place.
