Mustangs take first game of the two game weekend

The Estevan Bruins suffered a setback on home ice Friday night, losing 6-2 to the Melfort Mustangs at Affinity Place.

The Mustangs scored just 49 seconds in and led 3-0 after the first period, taking the fans out of the game.

Estevan got goals from Alex Blanchard and Cody Davis but it wasn’t enough.

Bruins draft pick James Venne picked up the win in net for Melfort, making 26 saves.

The two teams will tangle again on Saturday night. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. in Estevan.
