Winning streak ended by the Hounds

A third period come back fell just short Sunday night in what was maybe the craziest game of the Estevan Bruins season so far.

Trailing 8-3 at the second intermission, the Bruins mounted a valiant come back in the third, scoring four goals in a five minute span.

Forward Mark Rumsey appeared to have tied the game at 8-8 when he let a shot go that got through HoundsĀ goaltender Austin Elliott.

The goal light went on but the officials waved it off.

Bruins head coach Jason Tatarnic was adamant after the game that the puck had gone in. A slow motion replay appears to show the puck hitting the back bar in the middle of the net before bouncing out, hitting the post, and sitting on the goal line.

It was as close as the Bruins would come to tying a game that they chased all night after giving up four consecutive goals in the opening three minutes of the first period. The final score ended up 8-7.

A scary incident in the second period caused a short delay in the action, when Bruins forward Jamie Valentino passed out on the Bruins bench. Training staff on both teams quickly attended to Valentino and both teams were sent off to their dressing rooms.

Valentino recovered and was in good condition following the game, bussing home with the team.

The Bruins and Hounds will meet again this Saturday in Estevan.
